US Treasury-Commerce turf war delays Strategic Bitcoin Reserve implementation

MicroStrategy (MSTR) sold 3,588 bitcoins between 29 June and 5 July 2026, raising approximately $216 million; bitcoin fell up to 4% following disclosure of the sale. The company's total bitcoin holdings were reduced to 843,775 BTC.
Trump 2025 disclosure reports $1.4bn-plus in crypto-related earnings
Donald Trump's mandatory annual financial disclosure, reported 30 June–1 July 2026, recorded at least $1.4 billion in cryptocurrency-related earnings for 2025, including $236.25 million in net proceeds from World Liberty Financial token sales, with total annual revenue across all sources reported at $2.2 billion.
MicroStrategy announces bitcoin sales up to $1.25bn alongside $2bn share buybacks
MicroStrategy disclosed plans to sell up to $1.25 billion of bitcoin to build US dollar cash reserves, launched two share repurchase programmes of up to $1 billion each for common and preferred shares, and raised its STRC preferred share dividend to 12%. The company also disclosed a $2.55 billion reserve plan.
Binance to cease EU services after failing to secure MiCA licence
Binance announced on 26 June 2026 it would stop serving European clients after failing to obtain authorisation under the EU's MiCA regulation, with the compliance deadline set at 1 July 2026. BNB, BTC, and ETH were held by affected EU-based users whose exchange access was curtailed.
Bitcoin hits 20-month low of $59,125; silver, gold, crude fall
Bitcoin fell to a session low of $59,125 on 24 June 2026, its weakest level in 20 months, amid a broad risk-asset sell-off in which silver declined 7.4%, gold fell 3%, crude oil dropped 4%, and the US Dollar Index surged.
