Anthropic stated at that time it would reactivate export restrictions on both models on Wednesday, indicating the international access window is temporary rather than permanent.
The restrictions originated from a government order requiring Anthropic to halt non-US access to its frontier models, with the Commerce Department's senior White House official confirming the expected lift ahead of the formal announcement. Anthropic, which is privately held, had both Fable 5 and Mythos 5 subject to the controls before the approval process concluded.
